Strange performance issue on sharity mount

We notice that sometime any command on the sharity share is extremely slow, like df, mv, cp, mkfile. However, right after the first slowness, the same command issued afterwards is much faster. However, a couple of minutes later, same thing happened. What might be the cause and is there any tuning that we could do? Thanks.

Sharity may need a new login to the server and logins can be slow (by design, to prevent password guess attacks). The server may log out clients when they have no files open for some time and/or the server is short of resources.
